About the position

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is currently seeking a Grants/Contracts Operations Analyst to evaluate grant or contract applications, provide grant or contract coordination and technical assistance, and perform related work. This position will be based in the Wildlife Bureau at our Headquarters office, which is conveniently located adjacent to the Boise Greenbelt, the MK Nature Center, and the Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise. The Grants/Contracts Operations Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Wildlife Bureau by coordinating various federal aid programs and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support, coordination, and tracking for various federal aid programs, including Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration, ESA, Section 6, State Wildlife, and more. This role will involve coordinating federal applications, amendments, and reporting in multiple electronic grant tracking programs, as well as formatting, editing, proofreading, and distributing annual Federal Aid Grants documents and progress reports. Additionally, the analyst will work closely with Wildlife Staff Biologists to ensure compliance with federal regulations and provide technical assistance to grant applicants and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate grant or contract applications and provide coordination and technical assistance.
  • Support the Wildlife Bureau in tracking Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration and other grant programs.
  • Coordinate federal applications, amendments, and reporting in electronic grant tracking systems.
  • Track and report on actions for Conservation of Species (TRACS) for Federal Aid grant programs.
  • Format, edit, proofread, and distribute annual Federal Aid Grants documents and progress reports.
  • Work with Wildlife Staff Biologists to ensure compliance with federal ESA, NEPA, and historical preservation regulations.
  • Monitor contracts and agreements for the Wildlife Bureau.
  • Track University Research agreements and collaborate on Shooting Range agreements.
  • Complete subrecipient determination and monitoring.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding grant or contract availability and requirements.
  • Notify grant applicants or contractors of program deadlines and procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice on program regulations and compliance needs.
  • Participate in federal, state, and legislative audits related to IDFG programs.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of grant or contract administration, typically gained through an 8-hour course or one year of experience developing and monitoring grant budgets.
  • Some knowledge of bookkeeping, typically gained through high school coursework or one year of work experience.
  • Experience interpreting, applying, and explaining laws and regulations, typically gained through one year of work experience.
  • Experience interpreting narrative or demographic reports to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, typically gained through one year of experience.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, and evaluating data and writing narrative reports of findings, typically gained through one year of experience.
