About the position

The Grants Coordinator/Writer for the Town of Summerville is responsible for coordinating all grant applications and administration, particularly for federally funded programs such as the Community Development Block Grant. This role involves working closely with department heads, managing grant accounts, ensuring compliance with regulations, and preparing financial reports. The position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Receive grant proposals from department heads for special project funding.
  • Coordinate the grant application process and assist in completing grant applications.
  • Act as project director for awarded grant funding and monitor grant accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain required grant records and files, including financial reports.
  • Research and monitor HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs.
  • Ensure program compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Develop and submit financial records and reports for HUD, CDBG, and HOME programs.
  • Prepare requisitions and small purchase orders for grant-related expenses.
  • Coordinate program activities with other Town divisions and outside agencies.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders to coordinate work activities and resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in government sector dealing with federal and state grant funding or planning programs.
  • Knowledge of grant reporting and administration.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
