About the position

The Grants & Database Manager at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area (HFHGC) plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission of providing housing solutions and neighborhood revitalization for families and individuals in Chattanooga. This full-time position is responsible for managing the entire grant life cycle, overseeing donor and volunteer data management, and supporting various functions within the development department. The Grants & Database Manager will report directly to the Director of Development and will work closely with other team members, including the Chief Executive Officer and the Events & Marketing Coordinator, to ensure that the necessary resources are available for effective fundraising and community engagement. In terms of grants management, the Grants & Database Manager will be tasked with managing grant applications from various sources, including foundations and government entities. This includes organizing all grant resources for recurring applications, gathering necessary documentation from different departments, and collaborating with the Development Director to develop and submit grant proposals and follow-up reports. The manager will also maintain a calendar of grant application deadlines and ensure compliance with all grant requirements, while fostering relationships with community organizations for collaborative projects. On the database management front, the role involves managing and maintaining several databases, including Salesforce, GiveSmart, Mailchimp, and Click and Pledge. The Grants & Database Manager will ensure data accuracy and consistency through regular cleaning and organization, as well as develop and implement best practices for database management. Additionally, the position includes overseeing the donor acknowledgment process and supporting strategies for donor engagement and retention, which involves developing content for donor newsletters and segmented communications. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, along with strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Salesforce and other database management tools is preferred, as is a passion for the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events is also required, along with a background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Manage grant applications from foundations, state, and federal government sources.
  • Organize all grant resources for perennial and recurring applications.
  • Gather necessary documentation from Construction, Finance, and Family services to complete grant requirements.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals and follow-up reports in collaboration with the Development Director.
  • Maintain a calendar of grant application deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and manage ongoing monitoring and reporting.
  • Maintain relationships with community organizations for collaborative grant-funded projects.
  • Manage and maintain databases including Salesforce, GiveSmart, Mailchimp, and Click and Pledge.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency through regular cleaning and organization.
  • Develop and implement best practices for database management.
  • Oversee the donor acknowledgment process.
  • Support strategies for donor engagement and retention.
  • Develop content for donor newsletters and segmented communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field (e.g., non-profit management, communications, marketing, data management).
  • Preferred 1 year experience with grant writing, reporting, or facilitation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce, GiveSmart, Mailchimp, and Click and Pledge is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for Habitat for Humanity's mission and values.
