About the position

The Grants Financial Analyst at Meharry Medical College plays a crucial role in managing financial operations related to governmental and private funding. This position is responsible for preparing various financial reports and billings, as well as monitoring and approving expenditures on assigned accounts. The analyst will prepare financial status reports and original journal entries for input into the financial record system, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies. Daily operations include budget maintenance and the preparation of monthly and quarterly billings for assigned accounts. The analyst will review and process requisitions, travel expense reports, and requests for disbursements, ensuring that all transactions align with budget availability. Additionally, the analyst will prepare federal financial status reports or state Policy 07 reposts, and will be responsible for posting restricted line item budgets, journal entries, and other financial entries into the Workday system. The position may also involve performing various administrative duties and other related tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency of the financial operations within the college.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' work-related experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures and proficiency in various PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to understand and work with basic accounting reports such as expense reports and budgets.
  • Ability to provide good customer service and work effectively on team projects.
