About the position

The Grants Management Intern position at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) offers a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in grant management within a large international organization. The intern will support the Grants Manager in various tasks related to maintaining grant documentation, engaging in prospect research, and developing program materials, all aimed at ensuring continued financial support for the IRC's operations in Salt Lake City.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in prospecting research to identify potential new funders following IRC's methods and strategies.
  • Support the Grants Manager in maintaining and updating information in the local grants database for accurate tracking and project management.
  • Assist in scheduling grant-related meetings and provide reminders about upcoming deadlines to program staff.
  • Develop external-facing program materials, including one-pagers and boilerplate documents, in coordination with program staff.
  • Provide support in other areas of identified grants management projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, or a recent graduate.
  • Students pursuing degrees in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, business, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfort with research, organizing content, and liaising with staff.
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, independent, and able to manage project assignments.
