About the position

The Brookings Institution is a nonprofit public policy organization based in Washington, DC, dedicated to conducting in-depth research that leads to new ideas for solving societal problems. The Office of Financial Services (OFS) supports this mission by ensuring financial health and promoting efficiency and innovation. The Grants Manager (GM) will be part of the Grants Management team, responsible for managing grant activities across the grant lifecycle, including proposal budgets, grant agreements, and compliance with policies. This hybrid position allows for both in-person and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposal budgets for grant proposals
  • Review new grant and gift agreements
  • Set up new grant awards and maintain documentation
  • Ensure grant policy compliance with stakeholders
  • Track grant deliverables and milestones
  • Prepare and review donor financial reports
  • Maintain financial records related to grant awards
  • Draft donor financial reports promptly and accurately
  • Work closely with finance and development staff for compliance
  • Manage requests for post-award amendments and budget reallocations
  • Maintain Workday grant records and data entry
  • Utilize Workday reporting tools to extract key performance indicators
  • Record, monitor, and track milestone deliverables
  • Coordinate with research program finance teams to monitor spending on grant awards
  • Support during proposal routing and review process
  • Prepare standard forms for proposal submission
  • Troubleshoot Workday issues related to award setup and reporting
  • Provide support during grant and year-end audits
  • Serve as admin support to Director of Grants for compliance trainings

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting or related business field
  • Minimum four years of relevant work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS), or Certificate in Research Administration (CRA) preferred
  • Experience in Workday ERP systems highly desired
  • Federal grants experience a plus
  • Experience at a non-profit organization desired
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Expertise in interpreting donor rules and regulations
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent data visualization skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service abilities
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
