About the position

The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine is seeking a Grants & Projects Analyst 1 to join the Office of Medical Research. This position is crucial in assisting faculty members with grant submissions and actively pursuing funding opportunities to enhance the School's Basic and Clinical research initiatives. The Analyst will support the grant submission process, which includes budget preparation, feasibility assessments, and collaboration with Sponsored Projects. The role requires researching and identifying suitable funding opportunities for a diverse faculty, as well as providing training in grant submission processes to junior faculty, postdocs, and students. In addition to supporting grant submissions, the Grants & Projects Analyst 1 will assist in the development of complex proposals, conduct grant research, and promote funding opportunities to relevant departments and faculty members. The Analyst will also be responsible for reviewing supplemental proposals, contracts, and awards, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and facilitating the overall grant management process. This position is integral to the success of the School of Medicine's research efforts and requires a proactive approach to identifying and securing funding resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty with grant submissions and funding opportunities.
  • Support the grant submission process including budget preparation and feasibility assessments.
  • Collaborate with Sponsored Projects to ensure compliance and effective grant management.
  • Research and identify suitable funding opportunities for faculty.
  • Provide training in grant submission processes to junior faculty, postdocs, and students.
  • Assist in the development of complex proposals and conduct grant research.
  • Promote funding opportunities to relevant departments and faculty members.
  • Review supplemental proposals, contracts, and awards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, accounting, finance, or related field.
  • One year of professional grants experience in areas such as writing grant applications, managing fiscal aspects of grants, or providing technical assistance to grant recipients.
  • OR high school diploma and three years of professional grants experience in relevant areas.
  • OR one year of experience as a Grants & Projects Analyst Trainee in Nevada State service.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
