Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in financial management and budgeting in an academic setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems efficiently.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Vanderbilt University pre-award and/or financial systems.
  • Familiarity with faculty cost share policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in submitting grant proposals and preparing budgets.
  • Manage financial aspects of active awards, including monthly projections and compliance monitoring.
  • Serve as a financial and administrative contact for departmental faculty.
  • Complete internal post-award activities for a portfolio of grants.
  • Enter budgets into internal and federal proposal submission systems.
  • Monitor active subcontracts and other pre-award items as needed.
  • Attend recommended trainings to maintain knowledge of guidelines and best practices.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports detailing expenses and projections.
  • Facilitate PI requests for no-cost extensions and other grant-related tasks.
  • Prepare requisitions related to capital equipment and sub-contracts.
