About the position

The Grants & Contracts Accountant will lead the management of AAMVA's cost allocations, focusing on indirect costs and joint direct costs. This role involves overseeing the indirect cost rate management process, supporting the annual Incurred Cost submission, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations. The accountant will also provide analysis and reporting to inform leadership about rate performance and associated risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the periodic review and maintenance of AAMVA's cost allocations, including indirect costs and joint direct costs.
  • Manage the compilation and submission of AAMVA's annual incurred cost proposals and provisional billing rate packages to AAMVA's cognizant agency.
  • Support the indirect rate restructure project to analyze potential future-state scenarios and determine cost accounting practice changes.
  • Manage the monthly indirect rate monitoring and intra-year forecasting efforts, including rate monitoring and variance identification.
  • Research regulatory interpretations on issues arising from application of CFR/FAR and other relevant cost accounting guidance.
  • Support the monthly billing process for grants/contracts and the periodic final indirect cost rate billing true-ups.
  • Support the financial reporting requirements for grants/contracts, e.g., SF-425s.
  • Manage and maintain documentation related to the life cycle of grants and contracts.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in finance, accounting, or related field required; MBA is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Federal contracting.
  • Working knowledge of cost accounting structures and practices, 2 CFR 200, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience with indirect cost rate management for government contractors and joint direct cost allocations.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, with hands-on experience creating and modifying financial models and reports.
  • Experience with Cognos and Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills for effective presentations to executive staff.

  • Experience with modeling alternative indirect cost rate restructures and quantifying cost impacts.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff at all levels across various operation groups.
  • Discretion with handling confidential or sensitive information.
