About the position

The Graphic and Multimedia Designer at the West Virginia State Treasurer's Office is responsible for creating a variety of advertising and marketing materials across multiple media channels. This role involves planning and executing multimedia campaigns to promote the office's programs and services, under the supervision of the Marketing Director.

Responsibilities

  • Determines the objectives and constraints of a design campaign.
  • Determines the audience and goals of a design campaign.
  • Researches and analyzes communication requirements for a design campaign.
  • Negotiates design solutions with management and program staff.
  • Formulates design concepts.
  • Prepares sketches, diagrams, illustrations and layouts to communicate design concepts.
  • Designs complex graphics and animation to satisfy functional, aesthetic, and creative requirements of a design campaign.
  • Creates two-dimensional and three-dimensional images depicting objects in motion or illustrating a process, using computer animation or modeling programs.
  • Creates visual content for websites and social media.
  • Creates and executes content outreach strategies to ensure maximum participation and awareness.
  • Supervises or carries out production of design in chosen medium.
  • Evaluates and summarizes effectiveness of a design campaign.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.).
  • Understanding of typography.
  • Knowledge of color theory and application.
  • Knowledge of layout and composition techniques.
  • Knowledge of print design and prepress production.
  • Ability to use photography and videography.
  • Ability to create and develop educational and instructional materials effectively.
  • Ability to visualize and interpret ideas through a variety of graphic and art media.
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Working knowledge of social media management, digital analytics, and digital and traditional advertising.
