About the position

The Graphic Design - Communications Specialist 2 position at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) involves providing sophisticated graphic design services and creative consultation. Responsibilities

• Provide graphic design services and creative consultation for MPCA.
• Translate technical and legal language into effective visual communications products.
• Collaborate with communications teammates and other state agency designers.
• Ensure adherence to the State of Minnesota brand in all design work.
• Support various areas of the agency with visual storytelling and design solutions.

Requirements

• Two years of professional experience in graphic design.
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, photography, marketing, or a similar discipline may substitute for one year of experience.
• Experience creating icons, infographics, and multipage reports with strong typography and layout skills.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
• Brand management experience and ability to champion cohesive design.
• Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles in communication.
• Experience in photography.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience developing campaigns and creating visuals for print, web, email, and digital media.
• Understanding of plain language principles.
• Ability to apply accessibility requirements in design best practices.
• Planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills to meet project deadlines.
