About the position

The Graphic Design/Digital Illustration Instructor position at City College of San Francisco is a temporary, part-time role focused on teaching various courses in graphic design, typography, digital skills, and digital illustration. The instructor will engage with a diverse student body, promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in the learning environment. Responsibilities include designing instructional activities, assessing student progress, and participating in departmental functions.

Responsibilities

• Teach, co-teach, or team-teach post-secondary level courses in graphic design, typography, digital skills, and digital illustration.
• Design instructional activities and evaluations that promote student learning and achievement.
• Perform duties associated with instructing and assessing student progress, including developing syllabi and grading.
• Participate in departmental and college-wide functions such as committee work and professional development.
• Hold scheduled office hours for students.
• Teach credit classes at the Ocean Campus and/or Mission Center, including day and/or evening classes as required.
• Support an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti-racist practices.
• Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

Requirements

• Earned Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent foreign degree plus two years of professional experience directly related to the assignment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills to work with community college students from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience with industry-standard design and production software: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and others.

Nice-to-haves

• Earned Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, or related discipline.
• Experience teaching college-level design courses in a creative and innovative way.
• Minimum three years of successful recent work experience in graphic design, typography, or illustration.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
