About the position

The New York State Comptroller's Office is seeking a Graphic Designer 2 to join their Communications Office. This role involves creating compelling visual content for various agency materials and marketing collateral. The designer will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and work on projects across different mediums, while also having the flexibility of telecommuting after an initial period. The position emphasizes creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design a wide range of agency materials and marketing collaterals including research, fiscal and policy reports, brochures, rack cards, graphs and charts, fact sheets, posters, and more.
• Develop design concepts and execute original design content while maintaining brand standards.
• Provide design support for agency digital projects, including graphic needs for the agency's website and social media platforms, as well as videos and motion graphics.

Requirements

• Six (6) years of experience in art, drawing, painting, illustration, digital design, or interactive media.
• An Associate's degree in an art or design field may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
• A Bachelor's degree in an art or design field may substitute for four (4) years of experience.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of graphic design pre-press process.
• Design portfolio required.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in creating motion graphics.
• Familiarity with social media graphic design requirements.
