About the position

The Graphic Designer at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in managing and executing the organization's brand identity system. This position involves a hands-on approach to creative projects, where the designer will collaborate closely with the Midwest storytelling team to apply TNC's brand identity and visual vocabulary effectively. The ideal candidate will be a creative and conceptual thinker, capable of defining and executing an artistic vision from inception to completion. This role is not just about creating visuals; it encompasses the entire process of design, from initial concepts to final production, ensuring that all outputs align with the organization's mission and values. In this position, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for designing smart, thoughtful, and compelling concepts that resonate with TNC's audience. This includes designing, directing, researching, and managing graphics, layouts, and art production across various platforms. The designer will also contribute to other creative projects, showcasing versatility and a willingness to collaborate with different teams within the organization. Given the nature of the work, occasional travel may be required to support various initiatives and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the Conservancy's brand identity system.
  • Collaborate with the Midwest storytelling team to apply TNC's brand identity and visual vocabulary.
  • Design smart, thoughtful, and compelling concepts for all aspects of the organization.
  • Design, direct, research, and manage graphics, layouts, and art production.
  • Contribute to other creative projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of branding and visual identity principles.
  • Ability to think creatively and conceptually, translating ideas into compelling visuals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves
