About the position

The Graphic Designer and Social Media Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the Greensboro Jewish Federation's marketing efforts. This part-time position involves collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Design to ensure that all creative initiatives and social media engagement align with the organization's brand guidelines. The role encompasses project management, creative execution, and the production of various marketing materials.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Design on the Shalom Greensboro Magazine, from concept to final product.
  • Serve on the Editorial Board, assist in recording meeting minutes, and help plan content themes for the magazine.
  • Attend and assist in directing magazine photoshoots, and handle magazine production, layout, and design as needed.
  • Create event graphics for digital platforms and printed materials, and attend events to photograph them.
  • Generate, edit, publish, and share content on social media platforms in line with the Federation's strategy.
  • Compose and distribute email campaigns using Constant Contact.
  • Assist in website design layout, navigation, and content uploading.
  • Collaborate on the Annual Impact Report, soliciting and compiling content, circulating proofs, and handling production and design.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Graphic Design or equivalent experience.
  • Proven understanding of design principles, typography, color use, and composition, with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Well-versed in using social media as a marketing tool and comfortable with photography.
  • Ability to interact effectively with management, community leaders, donors, and volunteers.
  • Highly motivated and passionate about continuous learning in design trends and Jewish culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Writing and proofing skills.
  • Familiarity with the programs and services of the Greensboro Jewish Federation and its constituent agencies.
