About the position

The Fixed Term/Temporary Graphic Designer role at NJ PBS involves developing visual elements for various productions, primarily focusing on daily animations for live evening news broadcasts. The designer will collaborate with producers, journalists, and editors to create engaging graphics for on-air and online segments, as well as promotional materials for print and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and produce graphic elements for broadcast, web, and print.
• Create daily animations for live evening news broadcasts.
• Collaborate with producers, junior staff, journalists, and editors to conceptualize visual elements.
• Develop graphic artwork for news segments, including charts, graphs, diagrams, maps, and formatted text.
• Design original logos for special programming titles and branded segments.
• Deliver final files to editors for post-production and control room for live broadcast.
• Work on non-broadcast design projects such as promotional materials, flyers, posters, and website banner advertisements.

Requirements

• One (1) year of experience working in digital media required.
• Demonstrated skills in typography, design layout, animation, and visual communication.
• Proficiency with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of digital file format compression for still images and video.
