About the position

The Graphic Designer position at UTMB Health focuses on supporting the university's strategic priorities through creative design. This role is essential in enhancing awareness of UTMB Health's mission areas, including patient care, research, innovation, and education. The designer will collaborate with various internal teams and stakeholders to create engaging digital and print materials that communicate effectively with target audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design and create visually dynamic digital and print collateral, including logos, website graphics, social media graphics, fliers, banners, advertisements, and other marketing materials.
• Assist in the development of typesetting, layout, and design concepts for various projects in the university's mission areas.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas and concepts.
• Follow brand guidelines to develop consistent campaign materials across various media.
• Prepare and present design drafts for feedback, revision, and approval within the design and branding team.
• Use a project management tool for design projects to collaborate with team members across the organization.
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and design techniques.
• Incorporate motion graphics and animations into designs as needed.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in graphic design, visual arts, illustration, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of related graphic design experience.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of print and digital design projects.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• Ability to take constructive feedback and articulate design choices.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with co-workers in various teams.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with basic web design and familiarity with HTML/CSS is a plus.
• Incorporating motion graphics and animations into designs is a plus.
