About the position

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join their team as a Pre-Press Technician/Graphic Designer. This is a full-time, temp to hire position located in Eau Claire. The ideal candidate will be creative, technically savvy, and eager to put their graphic design skills to work. This role involves working closely with customer service and production teams, as well as business clients, to create and prepare digital files for production on various printing platforms, including digital and offset presses, large format printers, and for outside vendors, including promotional products. The successful candidate will utilize design software, particularly the Adobe Creative Suite, which includes InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. They will also work with Printers Plan and Plan Prophet to take concepts and ideas and transform them into original designs that meet client approval. Responsibilities include providing print-ready layouts for production, maintaining organization of customer and company art files, and running digital presses (copiers) along with some finishing and bindery work such as folding, cutting, and collating. Additionally, the designer will be responsible for designing and preparing art files to support the company's mission and marketing activities. Responsibilities

  • Working closely with customer service and production teams, and business clients.
  • Creating and/or preparing digital files for production on digital and offset presses, large format printers, and for outside vendors including promotional products.
  • Using design software, especially Adobe Creative Suite: Including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Working with Printers Plan and Plan Prophet.
  • Taking concepts and ideas to create original designs that meet client approval.
  • Providing print-ready layouts for production.
  • Maintaining organization of customer and company art files.
  • Running digital presses (copiers), and some finishing and bindery work (folding, cutting, collating, etc.).
  • Designing and preparing art files to support company mission and marketing activities.

Requirements

  • Education/Training in Graphic Design.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs including Publisher, PowerPoint, and Word in a Windows 10 environment.
  • Able to produce print-ready files according to internal standards.
  • An understanding of fonts, raster, and vector graphics.
  • Experience in the commercial printing industry highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing quick turnaround printing environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Willingness to learn about and operate digital presses (copiers).
  • Work efficiently and cooperatively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design issues for clients and coworkers.
  • Strong attention to detail, interest in preventing errors and solving problems.
