About the position

Local marketing and printing firm seeks a creative individual to help perform day-to-day prepress and graphic design tasks. The role involves laying out client-provided graphics for proofing and print, pulling from and updating pre-existing artwork for returning customers, and designing new materials or graphics from scratch based on client ideas. The designer will also be responsible for preparing artwork for press once approved and occasionally interacting with clients personally to discuss creative ideas. Additionally, there may be occasional digital asset design for web storefronts. Product examples include business cards, flyers, large format posters and banners, mass mailers, logo design, and promotional materials such as cups, keychains, and shirts.

Responsibilities

• Laying out client-provided graphics for proofing and print.
• Pulling from and updating pre-existing artwork for returning customers.
• Designing new materials or graphics from scratch based on client ideas.
• Preparing artwork for press once approved.
• Occasionally interacting with clients personally to discuss creative ideas.
• Occasional digital asset design for web storefronts.

Requirements

• Experience with Adobe CC, graphic design, and typography is a must.
• Working knowledge of prepress procedures such as imposition and mailing services is a plus.
• Must be versatile in design abilities, able to work in a variety of styles for different clients.
• Must be able to work independently on multiple projects at a time and under tight deadlines.
• Must be ready and willing to adapt to our workflow and learn new processes as needed.
• Must be able to improvise to solve unique situations using client-provided files and parameters.

• Experience in a small team environment.
• Ability to cross-train for other positions to better understand the production process.
