About the position

Progressive International is seeking an experienced creative individual to join our dynamic team as a Graphic Designer / Production Artist. The ideal candidate will have a generalist mindset and a passion for packaging design, typography, and meticulous file management. This role focuses on consumer packaged goods and involves creating compelling graphics for print, catalogs, e-commerce, and other marketing needs. The candidate will possess a high degree of technical knowledge in creating pre-press ready artwork, color theory, and image editing, including color corrections and manipulation. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the creative team, assist in the photo studio, and report directly to the Art Director. In this position, you will effectively interpret briefs and respond with fresh, creative ideas and visual solutions for packaging design and marketing materials. You will need to understand the complexities of packaging and print systems, ensuring that the visual standards are maintained across multiple brands and product categories. Your responsibilities will include the creation of B2B materials such as sell sheets, catalogs, large format trade show graphics, and planograms, as well as dealer merchandising. You will assist with photography post-production, including color correcting, editing, and manipulating raw files for output for print production and e-commerce while maintaining the brand's look and feel. Additionally, you will oversee packaging development from concept to final mechanicals, create product packaging die lines, and ensure that files are output to printer specifications. The role requires you to review and approve print production samples, communicate changes clearly to ensure timely project completion, and verify packaging functionality and the accuracy of materials, inks, adhesives, and coatings. You will uphold and ensure that brand guidelines are followed across all packaging and print collateral, while also developing and strengthening brand assets, including style and usage guides for multiple brands and product categories. Responsibilities

  • Creation of B2B materials such as sell sheets, catalogs, large format trade show graphics, and planograms.
  • Assist with photography post-production, including color correcting, editing, and manipulating raw files for print production and e-commerce.
  • Work in the photography studio assisting the Art Director during photo and video shoots.
  • Oversee packaging development from concept to final mechanicals.
  • Create product packaging die lines and output files to printer specifications.
  • Review and approve print production samples and communicate changes to ensure timely project completion.
  • Verify packaging functionality and the accuracy of materials, inks, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Uphold and ensure brand guidelines are followed across packaging and all print collateral.
  • Develop and strengthen brand assets, including style and usage guides for multiple brands and product categories.

Requirements

  • BA in Graphic Design or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing for brands and packaging design in a direct-to-consumer product marketing environment
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Design Suite, with an emphasis in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience and working knowledge of the packaging development process as it relates to production art files
  • Strong mechanical knowledge of 3D forms and print materials
  • Pre-press and print production experience
  • Strong color sense - ability to work in various color fields including CMYK, Pantone color systems, DuoTone, and RGB
  • Strong production, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Nice-to-haves

  • Photography experience would be advantageous but not required
