Minuteman Press of Colorado Springs is seeking a Production Assistant / Graphic Designer to join our high-performing team in a family-owned and operated small business. The position primarily involves graphic design with production tasks overlapping as needed, making it essential for candidates to have a strong foundation in the print industry, particularly in digital printing. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in the print industry, with a focus on proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Illustrator. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are crucial for success in this role. We value quality of character alongside experience, as our team thrives on collaboration and a positive work ethic. Daily responsibilities will include designing logos and print collateral, creating mockups and proofs for promotional items, and performing print finishing and bindery duties. The role also involves assisting in the preparation and printing of digital files, ensuring accuracy in job specifications, and maintaining equipment and inventory. A strong customer service orientation is necessary, as the position requires effective communication with clients to assist them in creating their jobs. Responsibilities

  • Designing logos and print collateral
  • Creating mockups and proofs for promotional items and other print collateral
  • Print finishing and bindery duties such as cutting, folding, stapling, padding, etc.
  • Assisting in the preparation and printing of digital files, checking fonts, links, and colors, creating bleeds, crops, and imposing art when required
  • Creating custom quotes based on specified job requirements
  • Communicating courteously with clients to assist them with the creation of their jobs
  • Reviewing job specifications from work orders and ensuring that client files are accurate and the finished job exceeds customer expectations
  • Equipment maintenance and inventory management
  • Setting up direct mail prints, including variable data
  • General shop cleaning and organization.

Requirements

  • College level courses in the Adobe Creative Suite; primarily InDesign and Illustrator with proficiency
  • 1+ years of recent professional work experience in printing, preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Passion for print and promotional product design and production
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to effectively work in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
