Hampton Roads Transit is seeking a talented and ambitious Graphic Designer to join our Marketing & Strategic Communications department, specifically on the TRAFFIX team. This position is ideal for a designer who thrives in a dynamic environment and is comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects from concept to final production. The successful candidate will primarily focus on graphic design needs for the TRAFFIX program but may also handle requests from other departments and the agency as a whole. A portfolio showcasing commercial work is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in graphic design. The role demands proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, with a strong attention to detail and a passion for learning and growth. Projects will encompass a variety of disciplines, including print, digital, and spatial design, and experience in motion video production is a plus. The designer will work within the agency's brand guidelines, ensuring that all designs are usable and accessible. Essential job functions include working on a wide range of projects and media, visualizing and developing innovative graphic designs that align with business goals, and producing high-quality artwork for print and digital platforms. The designer will also liaise with external suppliers or printers to ensure successful delivery of design projects by established deadlines. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the designer will coordinate production materials with printing or publishing companies and effectively communicate with staff members, other agencies, businesses, and the general public. The position requires a proactive approach, strong typographic knowledge, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The designer will manage records in compliance with Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures and may be assigned additional duties as needed. This role is classified as non-essential personnel and is non-exempt under FLSA guidelines. The designer must be able to operate a keyboard device and may be required to work outside regular business hours as needed, including some seasonal overtime.
