We are more than just a consulting firm; we are partners ready to help our clients succeed. We are currently seeking a skilled and creative Graphic Designer to join our team in Washington, D.C. This role is pivotal in supporting various strategic communications projects for the Federal Transit Administration. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for conceiving ideas, designing, producing, and collaborating on multifaceted communication materials across both print and digital mediums. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers and team members to provide professional recommendations for design concepts, art direction, production, and quality control. This position requires an experienced individual who can effectively manage production timelines, collaborate with external vendors, and contribute to the editorial development of various projects. The Graphic Designer will develop and execute creative concepts and campaigns for a range of communication materials, including newsletters, fact sheets, flyers, and web graphics. This role also involves ensuring that all materials meet accessibility standards and providing templates for document production. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques, along with excellent project management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute creative concepts, designs, and campaigns for communication materials.
  • Create layouts for print and digital formats including newsletters, fact sheets, flyers, and web graphics.
  • Determine the size, arrangement, and style of illustrative material and type, ensuring design coherence and visual appeal.
  • Work closely with project managers and team members to provide recommendations for concept development, design, art direction, and production.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective production of materials.
  • Manage print and prepress service specifications, including purchasing, approvals, and quality control.
  • Monitor and track production projects to ensure proper and timely completion using software such as InDesign and FileMaker Pro.
  • Maintain accurate files and records, and manage equipment and supply inventory.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and internet websites.
  • Design, edit, and produce accessible newsletters and outreach materials, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in graphic design, including experience with print and digital media.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and FileMaker Pro.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
  • Experience with accessible design practices and creating materials that meet ADA standards.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external vendors.
