About the position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our Reston, VA office. This position is not remote, and the selected candidate will work independently while collaborating with other Designers and Marketing professionals. The primary focus of this role is to understand and translate the client's vision into a variety of deliverables within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing graphic covers, templates, layouts, and supporting graphics for marketing pursuits. Additionally, the role involves creating presentations, aerial map exhibits, and multimedia graphics, as well as tailored print and digital brochures and graphics for conferences and events. The designer will also design digital campaigns aimed at gaining external recognition and supporting various pursuits. As part of a large, creative, and specialized marketing team, the Graphic Designer will partner with engineers, project managers, and technical staff to ensure that all designs align with Kimley-Horn's brand and the client's visual guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach, a positive attitude, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and be willing to learn new skills, manage tasks and teams, and participate in process improvement initiatives. Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours may be necessary, and the ability to handle tight deadlines and multiple assignments while maintaining quality and accuracy is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Develop graphic covers, templates, layouts, and supporting graphics for marketing pursuits
  • Create presentations, aerial map exhibits, and multimedia graphics
  • Create tailored print and digital brochures as well as conference/event graphics
  • Design digital campaigns for external recognition/pursuits
  • Partner with engineers, project managers, and technical staff
  • Serve as a brand advocate for Kimley-Horn and the client's visual guidelines

Requirements

  • 3+ years of corporate and/or agency experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or similar
  • Proficiency in Adobe CC (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use InDesign software for layout of complex documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive, collaborative, solution-seeking attitude, and a high sense of personal responsibility
  • Desire to learn new skills, manage tasks and teams, participate in process improvement
  • Flexibility to periodically work outside normal business hours as needed
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle simultaneous, varied assignments while providing consistent quality and accuracy
