About the position

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University is seeking a marketing-minded graphic designer to enhance the school's recruitment and engagement efforts through strategic communication. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to create exceptional visual content that promotes the school's community and brand. The graphic designer will serve as the lead visual coordinator and media asset manager, ensuring a cohesive visual messaging strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling visual/graphic content for websites, email, social content, print pieces, building signage, slide decks, and more on deadline.
  • Use the Adobe Creative Suite to create and edit graphic, motion graphic, photo, and video content.
  • Create and optimize dynamic display ads for digital marketing campaigns.
  • Optimize UX/UI design for digital, email, and interactive products for specific audience segments.
  • Lead universal design practices to ensure accessibility of digital content.
  • Proactively engage with school stakeholders to mine and tell effective visual stories in pursuit of school recruitment and engagement goals.
  • Coordinate visual media with team members.
  • Serve as the school's visual brand champion.
  • Assign visual media projects to vendors (e.g., photographers, printers).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Graphic Art or related field AND two years experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art; OR, four years' experience in graphic design and layout, illustration, or commercial art; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Nice-to-haves

  • Evidence of a strong portfolio of visual graphic design work for strategic communication.
  • Experience leading data-driven UX/UI design processes.
  • Experience in applying universal design practices to ensure accessibility of digital content.
  • Experience creating and optimizing dynamic display ads for digital marketing campaigns.
  • Evidence in being fluent with the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience collaborating with a content team to create visual elements for social and editorial content/campaigns, especially those that advance higher education admissions goals.
  • Experience in visual brand compliance.
  • Experience using a digital asset management system and metadata workflows.
  • Experience using a project management system (e.g. Asana, Monday.com, Basecamp).
  • Experience producing digital graphic content at a professional content organization or agency.
  • Experience coordinating with, directing and assigning third-party vendors (e.g. printers, photographers, videographers).
