About the position

The Graphic Designer will join the Marketing & Strategic Communications department at Hampton Roads Transit, focusing primarily on graphic design needs for the TRAFFIX program. This role involves managing multiple projects from concept to final production, requiring a strong attention to detail and a passion for design. The designer will work within brand guidelines and produce a variety of materials across print, digital, and spatial disciplines, with opportunities to incorporate motion graphics.

Responsibilities

• Work on a wide range of projects and media, using various software programs to visualize and develop innovative graphic designs that meet business goals.
• Take ideas from concept to completion, managing multiple jobs concurrently.
• Produce and supply artwork for print and digital to the highest standards, liaising with external suppliers or printers.
• Ensure successful delivery of allocated design projects by established deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with staff members, other agencies, businesses, and the general public.
• Coordinate the production of materials with printing or publishing companies.
• Promote creative, innovative ideas and maintain excellent communication and writing skills.

Requirements

• Associates Degree from an accredited college in design.
• Three years of experience in graphic design with a portfolio of commercial work.
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
• Experience in Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or Davinci Resolve is preferred but not required.
• Strong typographic knowledge and typesetting skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in motion video production.
• Eagerness to learn and incorporate motion graphics and production for social media and/or broadcast.
