About the position

Cincy Magazine, part of Main Street United, is seeking a part-time to full-time graphic designer to contribute to various brands and publications, including Cincy, Dayton, NKY, Midwestern Traveler, and Ohio Business magazines. The role involves layout and design work, managing freelance designers, photo editing, ad design, and preparing materials for both print and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

• Layout and design of magazines
• Work with managing editor to assign and manage freelance designers and photographers as needed
• Reviewing submitted photos for resolution and quality
• Color correcting photos for CMYK printing
• Ad design for clients
• Preflighting ads
• Uploading files to the printer
• Prepping materials for website
• Logo design as needed
• Digital ad creation as needed

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in print and/or publication design required
• A bachelor's degree or higher in design or other related field
• Understanding of CMYK printing and color correcting images for print use
• Understanding of bleed, trim, paper finishes/weights and differences
• Expert knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Familiarity with InCopy and other Adobe Creative Cloud programs preferred
• Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Experience using Google Drive
• Experience with WordPress, particularly the Elementor page builder, a plus
• Familiarity with Basecamp a plus
• Photography and videography experience a plus
• Basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript knowledge a plus
• Strong social skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
• Must be comfortable with learning new tasks and adapting quickly
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Passionate about Cincinnati and the surrounding areas
