About the position

The Graphic Designer will be a key member of the in-house creative team at Smucker, providing essential creative design support for the Smucker Away from Home portfolio of brands. This includes a diverse range of products such as frozen handheld foods, spreads, coffee, sweet baked snacks, and pet food/snacks. The work produced by this team member will have a direct impact on how consumers and B2B customers perceive these brands. The role encompasses a variety of creative executions, including but not limited to integrated B2B marketing campaigns, sizzle/sales video development and storyboarding, digital banner ad campaigns, social media content, trade show event materials, sales presentations, photo and video direction, in-store point-of-sale (POS) signage, and various sales collateral. Located in Orrville, Ohio, this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring onsite presence approximately six days per month, primarily during core weeks determined by the company. The Graphic Designer will interpret creative briefs and other directions, translating complex inputs into simple solutions that resonate with target audiences and support business objectives. This includes applying existing campaign style guides and key visuals to various tactics, adapting B2C design work for B2B audiences as necessary, and developing new concepts and designs as required. The role also involves tailoring creative versions for different business channels and audiences, including broker networks, wholesalers, and food service customers. The Graphic Designer will consult with subject matter experts and stakeholders, present work to internal clients and partners, and provide strategic rationale for their recommendations. Continuous improvement of work will be driven by feedback, data-driven insights, and collaboration with Creative Content Managers, Project Managers, Copywriters, Videographers, Photographers, and others. Additionally, the designer will provide guidance to interns, contractors, and external partners as appropriate, ultimately contributing to the growth of both iconic and emerging brands.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to others, including interns, contractors, and external partners as appropriate.
  • Help drive the growth of both iconic and up-and-coming brands.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Graphic Design or similar degree
  • 3-5 years of graphic design experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud on the Mac platform, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Strong portfolio of design work
  • Strategic, critical thinker with the ability to effectively interpret creative briefs and other inputs
  • Strong sense of urgency, and ability to maintain creative excellence while meeting fast-paced deadlines
  • Self-starter with proven ability to balance multiple projects at once
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
