About the position

The Bowen Group is seeking a Graphic Designer to support the Office of Financial Readiness. This full-time remote position involves creating accessible graphic designs for various collateral products, collaborating with a cross-functional team, and ensuring timely completion of projects. The role emphasizes user-friendly design, visual communication strategies, and adherence to quality standards, particularly in the context of serving military and veteran communities.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily graphic design requirements for contracts.
  • Design accessible collateral products such as fact sheets, infographics, flyers, and posters.
  • Research and provide images for websites and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team including project leads, writers, editors, and accessibility specialists.
  • Manage tasks within the project management system to ensure timely completion.
  • Design user-friendly and effective products that meet educational or promotional needs.
  • Generate concepts and determine visual communication strategies for branding, print, and web products.
  • Develop logos and visual brands, establishing style guide requirements.
  • Ensure visual consistency across projects based on established style guides.
  • Design print materials for physical and electronic formats, including booklets and brochures.
  • Create large-scale print materials for events and interior spaces.
  • Define print specifications and review printer proofs.
  • Create moodboards, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design ideas.
  • Design interactive elements for digital media and optimize graphics for social media platforms.
  • Develop web style guides for developers and organize design files according to established processes.
  • Stay updated on design methodologies and technologies, applying them to solve design problems.
  • Present designs and deliverables to peers and senior stakeholders.
  • Establish and promote design guidelines and best practices through SOPs and guides.
  • Occasional travel for onsite event support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field.
  • At least three years of experience in graphic design and web design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and digital design tools (Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Solid understanding of print production processes and accessibility standards for federal government.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with web accessibility standards and Section 508 compliance.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of design trends and innovations.
