About the position

Join a dynamic Media Affairs department as a Multimedia Program Specialist. This role involves supporting and coordinating multimedia activities, creating compelling campaigns, and managing our social media presence to engage diverse audiences. The position is based in Oakland, CA, and offers a pay rate of $45 per hour, with an immediate start date available. As a Multimedia Program Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing and coordinating multimedia activities within the Media Affairs department, which includes designing and assisting in creating multimedia campaigns that encompass photography, audio/video promotions, and print publications. You will also coordinate preproduction activities such as storyboarding, script writing, location scouting, scheduling, and managing equipment and budget needs. In addition to production tasks, you will produce high-quality visual media using industry-standard techniques and tools. A significant part of your role will involve managing the organization's social media presence, where you will develop content for platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram, while also identifying emerging opportunities to engage with diverse audiences. You will establish and maintain a record-keeping and archiving system for project files, digital assets, and equipment, ensuring that all materials are organized and accessible. Collaboration with internal partners will be essential as you develop digital content for marketing, social media campaigns, and the District website, as well as contribute to print marketing and communications materials. Furthermore, you will provide original content and assist in creating content for external news and media partners, making this role integral to the success of multimedia campaigns and digital content initiatives.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university (additional experience may substitute education on a year-for-year basis).
  • Three (3) years of recent, verifiable support experience in video/audio production, photography, broadcasting, multimedia journalism, or a related field; or two (2) years at the level of Assistant Program Specialist.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Premiere Pro, InDesign, and Express.
  • Advanced skills in video shooting, lighting, and photography using DSLR equipment.
  • Knowledge of color theory, image retouching, and typography.
  • Understanding of pre-press and print production processes.
