About the position

The Graphic Designer at Signs Now is responsible for producing graphic designs and job layouts that meet work order specifications. This role involves manipulating customer artwork to ensure compatibility with design software, operating equipment for vinyl plotting and wide-format printing, and performing system maintenance to optimize productivity. The designer will also assist in the creation of signs and graphics projects while ensuring high-quality output and effective customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client education on proper submission of digital files.
  • Consult with clients to understand their needs and provide guidance for the best solutions.
  • Operate plotter, laminator, and wide-format equipment to produce client jobs.
  • Maintain and monitor server and backup routines for all files produced in the Graphics department.
  • Operate and calibrate monitors, office printers/copiers, and print equipment to ensure accurate color production and proofing.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain superior quality on all individual work and collaborate with team members to ensure quality on all jobs produced.
  • Monitor computer, software, and equipment supply needs and report to management to avoid production shutdowns.
  • Dispose of waste materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on equipment and keep the work zone tidy.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and work with management to reschedule workloads as necessary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years education in graphic design or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience in the sign industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sign industry substrates, media, and products is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional, upbeat, positive attitude.
  • Sharp attention to detail and keen multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with a diverse customer base.
  • Expertise in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expertise in wide-format printers and VersaWorks RIP operation.
  • Expertise in color management concepts and procedures.
