The Graphic Designer at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) plays a crucial role in enhancing the University's brand image through visual content creation and design. This position involves developing graphic and multimedia strategies, supporting digital storytelling, and collaborating with various university units to promote effective communication. The role requires managing multiple projects while adhering to brand standards and accessibility guidelines, contributing to institutional priorities such as student recruitment and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and creates visual content using text, audio, images, photography, animations, video, and interactive content to communicate themes and messages for communication materials.
  • Provides designs that adhere to accessibility and brand standards, maintaining brand identity and design policies.
  • Helps monitor and grow the digital asset management tool for the university.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the university's brand assets and reviews designs for compliance with brand guidelines.
  • Consults on graphic and multimedia strategies for University units and colleges, finding opportunities to expand creative execution.
  • Coordinates the creation and implementation of design assets for efficiency, flexibility, and usability.
  • Completes professional development and training activities to stay current on content development trends.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree with two or more years of related experience or a combination of related education and work experience equal to six or more years.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Experience creating finished graphics for print and web.
