About the position

The Graphic Designer position at RR Donnelley involves the creative execution of concepts and designs for retail circular pages, direct mail, and collateral material. The role requires the designer to create visually compelling messages, execute creative strategies, and ensure projects are completed on schedule. The designer will work collaboratively with teams, manage projects through all stages of production, and maintain the client's brand identity.

Responsibilities

  • Define work based on evaluation of short-term and long-term goals of the department.
  • Independently evaluate processes, identify areas of improvement, and incorporate them into overall work objectives.
  • Develop creative and graphic concepts for web and print in collaboration with the assigned team.
  • Follow projects throughout all stages of print production and/or online deployment.
  • Provide production support to produce technically correct, print-ready mechanicals for release.
  • Interact regularly with creative leadership, creative partners, and other team members for project completion.
  • Interpret marketing ideas and turn them into visual reality at a world-class level.
  • Receive feedback from management and use it to grow skills.
  • Solve business challenges through marketing and smart creative design.
  • Take ownership of projects and execute through all stages of creative development on target, on time, and on budget.
  • Maintain and enhance the client's identity by working creatively within the corporate brand.
  • Understand the client's design needs and methodology.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, senior management, and clients across all topics from business to creative.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the function of work.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong developing portfolio of imaginative work.
  • Well-versed on Macintosh platform (OSX) and industry-standard applications: Adobe CC, with MS Office and HTML a plus.
  • New ideas, great design sense, and copywriting skills are a plus.
  • Organizational skills, adaptability, and composure under fire are equally important.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to build and maintain strong and effective client and internal relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to listen for understanding.
  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and time-management skills.
