About the position

The Graphic Designer will join UCLA Alumni Affairs' Marketing and Communications team, responsible for planning and creating visual designs that communicate ideas to inspire and inform stakeholders. This hybrid role involves collaborating with leadership to enhance graphic approaches and manage design projects, while also providing leadership in hiring and managing student and contract designers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and create visual designs to communicate ideas that inspire and inform stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director and Alumni Affairs leadership to develop and execute design strategies.
  • Provide feedback and ideas to enhance graphic approaches and keep designs current and innovative.
  • Manage marketing and communications projects, including hiring and overseeing student and contract designers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a wide array of clients and constituents.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a marketing/communications environment with a strong creative flair and originality.
  • Experience in multimedia design with a portfolio showcasing print and digital deliverables.
  • Ability to respond to copy, design, marketing strategy, and social media inquiries.
  • Skillful in Mac OS X and Windows; proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge in UI/UX design and common design tools.
  • Solid skills in graphic design, layout, and adherence to established style guides.
  • Ability to create and implement strategic design/communications plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments under tight deadlines.
  • Supervisory skills to manage student workers and volunteers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in an educational and/or non-profit environment.
  • Knowledge of UCLA programs, services, and policies.
