About the position

Toomey Technologies is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our team in Alexandria, VA. This position is crucial for providing graphic production support, directory creation, cataloguing, and system support for our image database. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in graphic design and will be responsible for the documentation and media management of our graphic image database. The Graphic Designer will utilize their knowledge of current graphic design software to collaborate on and contribute to the production of graphic art and visual information (VI) materials for various projects. This includes creating promotional materials, advertisements, films, packaging, and informative or instructional content across multiple media outlets. In this role, you will advise clients on the most appropriate media for their projects and apply your artistic skills to produce detailed scientific and technical illustrations with a high degree of accuracy. You will also design graphics, animations, multimedia, and interactive content while troubleshooting any issues related to visual information output devices. Your responsibilities will extend to participating in the design, layout, and production of brochures, pamphlets, illustrations, briefings, signs, displays, and other materials. Additionally, you will be tasked with archiving current and stored graphic products according to established VI protocols and providing research on industry trends to implement improvements for efficient operation of the graphic and reproduction centers. The Graphic Designer will also manage graphics data by maintaining the integrity of the graphic image database, performing updates, and cataloging image files using applicable referenced documentation. This position requires an active Secret Clearance and a minimum of seven years of experience in graphic design principles, methods, and techniques, along with proficiency in associated software and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide graphic production support, directory creation, cataloguing and system support for the image database.
  • Provide documentation and media management and support of a graphic image database.
  • Collaborate on and contribute to the production of graphic art and visual information (VI) materials for graphic design projects.
  • Produce VI materials for promotions, advertisements, films, packaging and informative or instructional material through various media outlets.
  • Advise clients on the most appropriate media for their project.
  • Apply artistic skill to produce detailed scientific and technical illustrations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Design graphics, animations, multimedia and interactive content and interface within parameters for specific systems and end users.
  • Troubleshoot problems of visual information output devices.
  • Participate in the design, layout and production of brochures, pamphlets, illustrations, briefings, signs, displays and other materials.
  • Archive current and stored graphic products according to provided VI protocols.
  • Provide research and present industry trends and implementable improvements to affect efficient operation of the graphic and reproduction centers.
  • Provide graphics data management by maintaining integrity, performing updates for the graphic image database and cataloging image files.

Requirements

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Seven years' experience in the principles, methods and techniques used in the preparation of graphics materials, as well as the associated software and equipment.
  • Knowledge of advanced visual arts methods, techniques and materials.
  • Ability to translate spoken or written descriptions of items, processes, issues, abstract concepts and ideas into visual media.
  • Experience with subject matter nomenclature and terminology as applied to military topic areas.
  • Experience in internet technologies and ability to design graphics, animations, interactive content and interfaces.
  • Experience with visual information output devices including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in color spaces and palettes for specific media and application of color management across product lines.
  • Advanced computer graphics technology to develop, recommend and maintain VI systems.
  • Experience operating Microsoft Windows and Apple computers and their operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite.
