About the position

The Graphic Designer position at Okaloosa County involves conceptualizing and designing engaging graphics that support the Destin-Fort Walton Beach brand across various media. The role requires collaboration with marketing teams and agencies to ensure cohesive branding and messaging, while also staying current with design trends to keep content relevant. The designer will manage brand assets, edit photos and videos, and coordinate with internal and external teams to complete projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative graphic designs and concepts for digital, web, print, social media, newsletters, promotional items, etc. in accordance with brand guidelines.
  • Manage brand assets and usage including logos, font, colors, imagery, vocabulary, promotional items, etc.
  • Strategize with marketing team and agency on cohesive branding and messaging across all departments.
  • Stay current with design trends, social media trends and platforms to ensure brand content is relevant.
  • Edit photos and videos for short and long form content for social media platforms and presentations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams in the design concept phase through completion of a project.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc. to complete projects.
  • Update and maintain internal database with designs, photography, and videos.
  • Support program operations outside of normal business hours, including long days, occasional evenings, and some weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in graphic design, web development, digital arts, marketing or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of creativity and innovative design skills or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proficiency in design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier Pro and/or Dreamweaver.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript is preferred.
  • Valid driver license.

  • Experience with social media content creation and management.
