About the position

The Graphic Designer at the University of Nebraska Medical Center will collaborate with the McGoogan Health Sciences Library team to create engaging visual works, art displays, and exhibition installations. This role focuses on enhancing audience engagement through comprehensive design assets that align with the UNMC brand, utilizing both print and digital mediums. The designer will be responsible for the conceptualization, development, and production of various design projects, requiring strong communication and technical skills in graphic design software.

Responsibilities

  • Create comprehensive visual works and art displays for the library and campus audiences.
  • Develop and produce design assets for visual communications, both print and digital.
  • Conceptualize and execute exhibition installations, including exhibit case features and display panels.
  • Ensure all designs are consistent with and advance the UNMC brand.
  • Manage materials and oversee the physical construction and installation of designs.
  • Collaborate with external consultants and campus brand partners to achieve design goals.
  • Prioritize design requests and manage project timelines and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Art, Graphic Design, Studio Art, Interior Design, Museum Studies, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in visual design, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Final Cut Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of visual communication principles and attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage projects effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fabrication and installation of exhibitions.
  • Strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine colors, fonts, and layouts effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
