About the position

The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is seeking a passionate and skilled Graphic Designer to join its communication office team. This full-time position offers an opportunity to utilize your graphic design expertise to create beautiful and inspirational communication and marketing materials that support the initiatives of the Catholic Church in Southeast Wisconsin. As a Graphic Designer, you will play a crucial role in advancing the mission of the Archdiocese through your creative contributions. You will be responsible for the layout and production of the Catholic Herald Newspaper, including its digital edition and e-newsletter, as well as the design of display and classified ads. Your work will also involve producing photos and graphics for the Archdiocese's website and social media platforms, ensuring that all materials adhere to the organization's brand standards. In addition to these responsibilities, you will develop sales collateral such as flyers, email banners, and website promotions. You will initiate, develop, and execute multiple visual communication strategies that encompass digital media, conventional print media, advertising campaigns, and web communications. Your role will require you to prepare complex design illustrations, templates, and photos for various graphic design projects, creating brochures, flyers, handouts, and other marketing materials, including presentations using PowerPoint and Prezi. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contemporary communication strategies and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, while also managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and production of Catholic Herald Newspaper, digital edition, and e-newsletter
  • Design of display and classified ads
  • Production of photos and graphics for website and social media
  • Design of covers, special editions and special sections
  • Photo archive organization
  • Development of sales collateral including flyers, email banners and website promotions
  • Initiate, develop and execute the design of multiple visual communication strategies, including digital media, conventional print media, advertising campaigns, and web communications
  • Prepare complex design illustrations, templates, photos, and pictures for graphic design projects
  • Create brochures, flyers, handouts, marketing materials, and web based materials including PowerPoint/Prezi
  • Adhere to organizational brand standards and incorporate brand identity

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field is required
  • Two to five years of graphic design work experience, or equivalent, is required
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and macOS
  • Experience with design/layout of content for a wide variety of media including web, collateral, online/digital media and print
  • Ability to work well with a variety of people and within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan and carry out multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to develop conceptual ideas into reality
  • Knowledge and experience with contemporary communication strategies
  • Basic knowledge of website content management and SEO
  • Working knowledge of digital and print production processes and techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith is preferred
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
