About the position

The Senior Graphic Designer will play a pivotal role in our in-house design team at a consulting firm located in Gaithersburg, MD. This full-time, permanent position requires a highly skilled and creative individual who excels in layout and design. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating visual concepts that effectively communicate information, enhancing the visual appeal of various publications, and refining graphic images. The role involves developing infographics, social media graphics, and desktop publishing for a range of publications. The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge of current design software and will be adept at managing every step of the design process, from initial concept development to the final deliverable. In this position, the designer will collaborate with project teams and work independently to meet project goals. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities is essential. Strong interpersonal communication skills and a customer-service attitude are crucial for success in this role. The designer will also be expected to present ideas and designs effectively to stakeholders. Experience in government proposal design layout and development is a plus, as is prior experience in a contractor environment. This opportunity offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for two days of remote work each week.

Responsibilities

• Create visual concepts to communicate information effectively.
• Develop graphics to enhance the visual appeal of publications.
• Refine graphic images and create infographics.
• Design social media graphics and manage desktop publishing tasks.
• Collaborate with project teams and work independently on design projects.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines.
• Present design ideas and concepts to stakeholders and clients.

Requirements

• Minimum BS/BA degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in graphic design.
• Ability to work as part of a project team as well as independently.
• Experience in managing teams and projects effectively.
• Self-disciplined with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and a customer-service attitude.
• Excellent presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with government proposal design layout and development.
• Prior experience in a contractor environment.
• Knowledge of Section 508 compliance including remediation and QA/QC.
• Experience with photography and videography.
