About the position

The Graphic Designer at The Nature Conservancy is responsible for managing and executing the organization's brand identity system through creative projects. This role involves collaborating with the Midwest storytelling team to apply the Conservancy's visual vocabulary and artistic vision across various media. The position requires a hands-on approach to design, with responsibilities that include creating compelling concepts, managing graphics and layouts, and ensuring adherence to deadlines. The Graphic Designer will also coordinate projects, supervise interns or volunteers, and present work to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the Conservancy's brand identity system.
  • Design and develop creative concepts for various projects.
  • Research and manage graphics, layouts, and art production.
  • Maintain the Conservancy's brand visual vocabulary.
  • Meet photography, production, and copy deadlines.
  • Organize and coordinate diverse projects and activities.
  • Supervise interns, volunteers, or contractors as needed.
  • Work within budget constraints to complete projects.
  • Present work and negotiate feedback with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in a design studio, agency, or in-house creative department.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated design sensibility and typography skills.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience in preparing files for production and reviewing proofs.
  • Strong understanding of current design trends and a keen eye for photography and illustration.
  • Ability to design for both print and web, with basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of motion graphics or video editing.
  • Experience with presentation software such as PowerPoint and Keynote.
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
