About the position

The Graphic Designer position at The Greysmith Companies involves creating innovative product packaging designs for a growing consumer goods company. The role requires a blend of artistic talent and technical skills, with a focus on market research, collaboration with clients, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Take the initiative to do proper market research for designs/concepts.
  • Keep up to date with all Company product lines.
  • Provide research when presenting layouts and/or concepts to the client and review quality of final product before release.
  • Attend press checks as needed and suggest improvements if required.
  • Obtain cost estimates from outside vendors for review with Graphic Design Manager.
  • Prepare initial project schedules with Graphic Design Manager.
  • Generate mock-ups for clients on various product packaging.
  • Review all final layouts and initial concepts with Graphic Design Manager and suggest possible improvements upon original client request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in art or design and 3-4 years' experience in the graphics field working on multiple graphics programs or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Product packaging design experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to develop innovative ideas on a consistent basis.
  • Must have a high level understanding of design principles and how they relate to package design and collateral.
  • High understanding of color theory and how it applies to the different categories of design.
  • Ability to present and support concepts in a clear and professional manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal clients and external vendors.
  • Ability to produce large projects effectively, within budget and on time delivery.
  • Must be highly proficient on software such as Adobe Creative Suite and various other programs.
  • Maintain computer skills and proficiency on all departmental software; Stay up to date with on program enhancements & how they can translate into new innovative designs.
  • Artistic talent, creativity, imagination, originality, visualization, and visual color distinction.
  • Problem identification and resolution.
  • Fluency of ideas and idea evaluation, critical thinking, analytical, time management, persuasion, negotiating, and prioritizing.
  • Highly motivated, organized and team oriented.
