About the position

The Creative Media Designer IV position at the Texas Space Commission involves advanced graphic and multimedia design and production work. The role is essential for supporting the Commission's initiatives through the creation of visual assets, including logos, graphics, and interactive media materials. The designer will work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud software to produce a variety of communication materials while ensuring brand compliance and accessibility standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced graphic and multimedia design and production work.
  • Concept, illustrate, and produce logos, graphics, data visuals, and interactive media materials.
  • Use computer software to produce visual assets for print.
  • Design and produce graphics and interactive media materials using Adobe Creative Cloud software.
  • Develop and implement an agency brand book and style guide.
  • Consult with Commission staff and provide technical advice on graphics and multimedia designs.
  • Maintain all design software, programs, and equipment.
  • Present mockups, proofs, and samples for approval to Commission staff.
  • Coordinate printing needs to ensure quality and cost-effective printing.
  • Research, plan, and prepare operating and production guidelines for others to follow.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in communication design, fine arts, graphic design, visual arts, advertising, communications, business administration, government, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in communications design, graphic design, public information, or media relations work.
  • Seven (7) or more years of graphic design experience using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.
  • Experience with animation, character illustration, and infographics.
  • Experience with After Effects, Adobe Express, Figma, Canto, and all Microsoft 365 products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Microsoft BI and Tableau.
  • Previous experience working at a government agency (local/state/federal).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with accessibility in design and remediation of accessibility issues.
  • Familiarity with social media and web communication assets.
