About the position

This includes designing and laying out posters, display panels, charts, and diagrams for publications. The role also involves assisting in the photographic and duplicating processes necessary for reproducing graphics materials. The designer will plan and prepare pictorial posters and illustrations, transforming verbal information into visual art. Additionally, the position requires taking photographs and videos of legislative actions, arranging scenes, selecting shooting angles, and determining the correct calibration of equipment for optimal results. The designer will also be responsible for editing images and videos, maintaining inventories, and managing the Senate's online photographic library. The work environment is fast-paced, especially during Interim Committee Weeks and Legislative Sessions, requiring the designer to be available for late-night and weekend work as needed. This position is crucial for effectively communicating the Senate's activities and initiatives through visual media.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience in graphic design, graphic arts, photography, visual communications, commercial art, illustrating, or videography.
  • Professional experience can substitute for required college education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of graphic design formats, techniques, and composition options.
  • Skill in photography and videography capture, editing, and publication.
  • Ability to design a variety of graphics materials.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
