About the position

The Graphics (GPU) Hardware Project Engineer at Qualcomm is a pivotal role responsible for leading technical aspects of GPU development projects. This position involves collaboration with various teams to ensure the successful execution and delivery of high-quality GPUs for diverse markets, including mobile, VR, and gaming. The Project Engineer will engage in product planning, technical discussions, and risk analysis, driving innovation and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with all engineering teams on definition, execution, and delivery of GPUs to products
  • Act as technical liaison between GPU HW engineering and Product Managers
  • Participate in Product/Roadmap planning using cost/benefit analysis
  • Contribute to strategic direction of GPU cores for long-term success
  • Quickly learn new technical domains/topics related to GPU/AP products
  • Drive industry best practices for ASIC engineering
  • Resolve key technical issues across teams
  • Organize and drive technical meetings for brainstorming and problem-solving
  • Ensure new proposals are vetted for potential patent applications
  • Interact daily with worldwide team members to ensure progress
  • Drive resolution of conflicts based on technical priorities
  • Respond efficiently to Business Unit and customer requests
  • Represent the GPU engineering team in SOC forums and management meetings
  • Communicate technical solutions internally and externally
  • Conduct engineering risk and impact analysis
  • Drive and mandate quality goals in conjunction with PM
  • Ensure product meets/exceeds market needs
  • Define and deliver innovative ideas and initiatives
  • Follow defined processes while driving improvements
  • Contribute to lessons learned and project retrospectives
  • Support diversity within teams and the company

Requirements

  • 10+ years combined Hardware/Software/System Engineering or related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Master's degree reduces work experience requirement by 1 year
  • PhD reduces work experience requirement by 1 year
  • Strong communication skills over various forms/media
  • Comfortable in technical discussions spanning software, hardware, system, and productization domains

Nice-to-haves

  • 15+ years combined Hardware/Software/System Engineering or related work experience
  • 5+ years Graphics HW (GPU) work experience or equivalent knowledge
  • 2+ years as Project Engineer or System Architect for large projects
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business goals into technology requirements
  • Self-driven to identify issues and risks
  • Strong knowledge of ASIC design flow in leading technology nodes
