About the position

The Greenhouse Worker position at Trail Nurseries involves performing various manual and mechanized tasks related to the production of greenhouse plants and horticultural products. The role requires planting, cultivating, and maintaining a variety of plants, as well as operating equipment and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This is a temporary position with specific employment dates.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual and mechanized tasks associated with the production of greenhouse plants and horticultural products.
• Plant, cultivate, and maintain nursery stock, bedding plants, plugs, liners, and hanging baskets.
• Propagate plants from cuttings and pot seedlings.
• Fill and label trays, move products to/from greenhouses and loading/unloading areas.
• Prune, trim, and perform general plant maintenance.
• Water or irrigate plants and apply fertilizers or chemicals as needed.
• Maintain irrigation systems and install/remove irrigation pipes and equipment.
• Apply pesticides, herbicides, and other crop protectants at appropriate times.
• Count, inventory, grade, pack, label, tag, pull, sort, and store plants by variety.
• Mow, cut, and weed fields, and perform manual tasks such as ditching and shoveling.

Requirements

• Ability to perform manual labor and operate equipment safely.
• Experience in horticulture or greenhouse work is preferred but not mandatory.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors.
• Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of plant care and maintenance techniques.
• Familiarity with irrigation systems and equipment.
