Requirements

Responsibilities

• Grinds and chips work pieces to specified dimensions as per drawings or job orders.
• Positions work piece manually or using a crane.
• Inserts selected grinding wheel or cutting chisel into the grinder.
• Manually guides tools along specified guidelines on the work piece.
• Inspects work for quality and accuracy.
• Grinds portable parts on a pedestal grinder.
• Removes sharp edges or burrs from work pieces.
• Chips or grinds out pits or cracks in metal.
• Cleans off excess metal, splatter, or rust to improve appearance.
• Dresses grinding wheel as needed.
• Reads and follows specific work instructions and procedures.
• Maintains accurate counts of work pieces produced and personal time records.
• Practices safe work habits and maintains a clean workplace.
