About the position

The Grocery Category Development Specialist plays a crucial role in driving the sales, margin, and penetration of Private Brands (PB) within assigned categories. This position collaborates with various teams, including Category, Merchandising, and Pricing, to develop and implement strategic plans that align with local sales objectives. The specialist will also support new product development and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to optimize costs and enhance product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Support category business meetings with suppliers to develop scorecards and performance metrics.
  • Assist in managing and analyzing all category aspects related to Private Brands, including product quality and financial performance.
  • Help develop PB category business plans and targets, focusing on sales, profit, and consumer satisfaction.
  • Manage the development of new products and marketing strategies for Private Brand products.
  • Provide insights into competition and industry trends to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Support the development of innovation across assigned categories to meet shopper expectations.
  • Conduct market visits and competitor analysis to inform category strategies.
  • Collaborate with teams to monitor Private Brands supplier performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or related experience in retail category management.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a category management support role.
  • Strong business acumen and customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interpret syndicated data reports.
