About the position

As a Grocery Clerk at Kroger, you will play a vital role in creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department while monitoring all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in discovering new items or products they inquire about.
  • Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review 'sell by' dates, taking appropriate action as necessary.
  • Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Display a positive attitude and stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, notifying store management as needed.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all safety risks or issues, including illegal activity, robbery, theft, or fraud.
