About the position

The Grocery Lead at New Seasons Market is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while leading the evening clerk team. This role involves coordinating department operations, managing inventory, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. The position requires a flexible schedule, primarily working Sunday through Thursday from 4 PM to 12 AM, and emphasizes teamwork and collaboration within the grocery department.

Responsibilities

  • Engage customers in a friendly manner and assist them in locating products throughout the store.
  • Order products according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to achieve sales and margin goals.
  • Guide the work of department clerks, including planning and assigning work, ensuring quality standards, and training staff.
  • Partner with department management to maintain excellent department conditions, including appearance, cleanliness, signage, staffing, and service levels.
  • Assist customers with product selection and share product knowledge.
  • Build displays and arrange department products to highlight featured items.
  • Maintain professional vendor relationships and assist with customer special orders.
  • Stock, rotate, and face products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
  • Communicate any issues to management and merchandising team.
  • Adhere to work and food safety policies set forth by the company and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience required.
  • Basic math and computation skills required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency required, including experience with Excel and inventory software preferred.
  • Skills to plan, prioritize, and delegate work effectively.
  • Ability to manage difficult customer interactions and exercise good judgment at all times.
  • Self-motivated with high attention to detail, quality, and presentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous ordering/inventory management experience preferred.
