About the position

The Grocery Manager at Albertsons Southern SP is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining a high-quality product inventory. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with company policies while providing a superior shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service.
  • Assists customers by making product suggestions.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom announcements and one-on-one customer interaction.
  • Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately, resolving customer complaints as needed.
  • Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
  • Assists with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes.
  • Builds grocery displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product, ensuring cleanliness of the work area.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays and coordinates grocery sales promotions.
  • Ensures merchandise is correctly priced and displayed, and that shelves are clean and properly maintained.
  • Monitors employee productivity and may schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Trains employees in store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
  • Prepares sales and inventory reports, taking physical inventory every 6 months.
  • Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness, maintaining inventory levels according to division directives.
  • Assists with ordering grocery products and supervising the processing of all reclamation.
  • Implements correct product preparation techniques and operates related equipment.
  • Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, and inspecting quality.
  • Ensures compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Retail Grocery experience of 2 years is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
  • Knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling, and department policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with inventory management software.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
